After an eight day trial in Manhattan Ed Sheeran has won his copyright infringement lawsuit case in which he was accused of taking the rhythm, chord progression and other elements of Marvin Gaye’s 1973 soul classic “Let’s Get It On” for his Grammy award winning 2014 song “Thinking Out Loud”. Ed Sheeran demonstrated the four-chord progression commonly used in music to create songs and spoke of independently creating his song with co-writer Amy Wadge. The jury deliberated for three hours before the verdict in favor of Sheeran.
